There is no doubt that Elvis had a huge impact on the world of music, but this whole tour with its trophy room and displays of his clothes, and his grave felt like a shrine to him.
Memphis is a world leader in cotton trading, so we went to the cotton museum. Stuck on the side on the Cotton building was this tiny little brick building. It couldn't have been more that 8' by 12' and had 2 stories. There was a space for rent sign on it...they wanted to rent out the top floor. It cracked me up.
We took a trolley ride down Main Street, and then decided to take a little cruise down the Mississippi River.
Memphis seems very run down and most of the houses and neighborhoods are in very poor condition, but we still did not see any grafitti.
The people were very friendly for the most part.
The food here is wonderful. My stomach is complaining about all the rich food. Fried chicken, and BBQ are everywhere. Small little cafes and diners, family run, cheap, delicious. We were helped today by a kid that couldn't have been more than 11 or 12, but he was very polite and professional.

That little building is so funny... how much was the rent?? Maybe it could be a personal office?
