Woke early this morning (2:15 am) to the roar of the wind. On the road by 3 am because the winds were supposed to get worse as the day went on. Drove through most of Texas in the dark, but before we left the state we were treated to a beautiful sunrise.

Most of Texas and Oklahoma was farm/ranch land. There were many lakes and small rivers. This lake came right up to the edge of the highway. Most of the water looked very dirty, and muddy.

We are staying in Van Buren Arkansas. A lot of history here. In Old Town you can see the original brick in the streets.

This court house was built in 1890, and is still being used.

This school house was built in 1820. General Pike, a confederate general, taught school here before the Civil War.

We will be staying in Van Buren until Monday, so we will have time to explore some more tomorrow.
