We checked the weather forecast for the trip tomorrow and found a snow warning. At this point we are not sure that we will make it to Yellowstone. We emptied our tanks, made sure we had plenty of fresh water, just in case we get stuck on the road.
12 to 20 inches of snow are expected and the report said some passes may be closed. There was lots of snow everywhere, and as we headed south it started to snow some more. Luckily it didn't stick to the road, and (slowly) we made it through.
It snowed most of the day Monday, and was still snowing Tuesday morning. Some areas are piled with snow and other areas are clear...wierd.
We drove into the Park Monday afternoon, and found lots of Bison.
They seem so unconcerned about the people all around them
Then we saw an eagle nest. Tuesday we saw a bald eagle in this nest.
Monday night we went to the IMAX and saw a movie, and did some shopping.
Tuesday morning we went to a really good pancake house in town. Then we headed back into Yellowstone Park to spend the day.
Guess what???? We found more Bison. There are Bison everywhere.
Then we saw this mother Elk with her baby. So sweet.
Then a little further down the road we saw another Bison and started to drive by when we noticed that she had a baby.
The baby was less than 3 hours old. The photographer that witnessed the birth told us that the baby fell into the river 3 times and the mother had to nudge him out of the water.
So wobbly and little. It was so wonderful to be able to see this.
On down the road we came to mud pots, paint pots and geysers. Lots of boiling water, boiling mud, stinky sulfer smelling air, and beautiful colors.

The continental divide...supposedly all the water on the west side of this point runs to the Pacific Ocean, and all the water on the east side runs to the Atlantic Ocean....but I don't know if I believe it.
This is the largest lake in Yellowstone and it was frozen...it is just starting to thaw around the edges.
We have never seen anything like this before...
All through the park there are thermal areas of one kind or another.
Looking across the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone park...there is a little waterfall on the side of the canyon and a very long set of steps. We were wondering if anyone ever actually goes down those stairs??!!

It is very beautiful here. We are truly greatful for all of this beauty that God created. We are thankful for this journey that we have been on. Tommorrow we start toward home (slowly) and look forward to hugging our grand children.
