We left New York and drove to Connecticut. 
We are staying in Mystic which is right on the sea. So, we took a stroll by the bay.
It is very picturesque down by the water. We are only staying for one night and then we will move on to the Boston area.
We drove through most of Rhode Island...It is only 37 miles one way by 48 miles. They have the WORST roads. We thought the motor home was going to break in half. I really can't say much about the scenery...it looks just like Connecticut, which looked just like New York. It is very beautiful.
We checked in early to Normandy Farms RV resort, then took off for Salem. This is the house that Judge Hathorne lived. He is the Judge that sentenced all of the "witches" to death. 19 were hanged and 1 was pressed to death.
We went to the witch museum. It started with a group of girls that were out playing and doing things they shouldn't. To avoid getting in trouble they accused a slave from Barbados of putting them under a spell. It snowballed out of control and they started putting people to death. When the girls accused the Governors wife of being a witch, someone finally came to their senses and made the girls confess to fabricating the whole thing. The Judge was hated because he never appoligized or showed any remorse for his part in it.
This is the house that author Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in. He was the great grandson of the Judge in the witch trials. He actually added a 'w' to his last name so that he wouldn't be associated with the judge.
Hawthorne wrote "The House of Seven Gables". The actual house was owned by his Aunt. When he spent time there it had actually been remodeled and only had 4 gables. But the legend of the house intrigued him. The house was later restored to its seven gable wonder. We could not get all seven in one picture.
These bushes were all over the place...Prussian Lilacs, they smelled wonderful.
We attended church today in Foxboro, MA. Of course we were welcomed and met so many nice people.
